Jared grew up in the small towns of the mountain west. Eighth-grade public school was his last year of formal education because of his extreme religious upbringing. But his thirst for reading and writing grew, challenging everything he had been taught about life. He married at eighteen, and with his beautiful bride Lisa, they have raised four incredible children.

While living in Utah, Jared continued to work whatever jobs he could get, from Wal-Mart to a prison guard, he worked where the pay was best. But after stepping away from his extreme religious upbringing, he and his family moved from the west coast to the east coast after being accepted into the graduate program at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary near Boston, Massachusetts.

Since then, he has worked as a pastor and a project coordinator at a non-profit organization that provides theological resources for international pastors and Bible students in need. He continues to work on his two deepest passions: writing, and telling others about the person of Jesus Christ.

He has written for The Gospel Coalition and in 2027 will publish his first book, At the Feet of the Lion, with Kregel Publications, about how C.S. Lewis helped him find the true Jesus and escape the polygamous cult he’d grown up in.
